Position Summary
The Town of Milton’s Operations division is currently accepting applications for the contract position of Park Attendant.
Successful candidates must be able to work May 8, 2026, to September 30, 2026. Incumbents must be available to work the following: day and afternoon shifts, Monday to Friday including scheduled Saturday and Sunday shifts.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Uses a schedule to effectively prepare and maintain picnic sites, sports fields, and open spaces at busy multi-use parks
- Performs routine checks, cleaning, opening and closing of public washroom sites
- Regular changing of park garbages and routine litter collection
- Prepares materials before and after large special events and ensures grounds are well maintained during events
- Ensures picnic sites are cleaned and free of debris users
- Operates sports field lights as per scheduled use
- Provides excellent customer service to park users and acts as a point of contact for renters of sports fields, picnic sites, and special events
- Complies with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Performs all other duties in a professional manner as assigned in accordance with Department objectives
Education & Experience
- Secondary School Diploma is required
- Previous parks operations experience is considered an asset
Certifications and Designations
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate/CPR and WHMIS is considered an asset
- Minimum G license is required
Additional Skills
- Ability to interpret a user schedule and manage time effectively
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is comfortable dealing with members of the public
- Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather
- Must be able to perform manual labour including lifting upto 50 pounds
The successful candidate must have a clean driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving habits. A recent driver’s abstract dated within 30 days will be required if selected for an interview. Persons with 4 or more demerit points need not apply.
Hourly Rate: $26.40 - $28.51
