Join the Marriott family today! The Responsibilies Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the primary responsibilities are:
- Lead, train, develop and schedule the Guest Activities & Pool team
- Organization, and execution of all guest recreational activities - including but not limited to program and process development, purchasing of supplies, Banquet Event Orders and revenue/expense accountability
- Coordinate permit for guiding activities and special events with Parks Canada
- Create strategic marketing for programs and events according to selling strategy
- Prepare and deliver value added activities, such as: nature walks, crafts, games, and mountain themed activities for the benefit of our guests
- Oversee the Guest Activities and Pool department including maintaining staffing levels and operational procedures.
- Develop key partnerships with local and valley partners as it relates to Family Activities ie: Boundary Ranch, Canadian Rockies Rafting etc.
- Develop an annual activity plan to ensure the execution of specialty themed festival weekends activities and recreational programming including Easter, Family Day, Christmas, Senior, Labour Day, Victoria Day events etc.
- Forecasting and budgeting for all Guest Activities & Pool including revenue, expenses, entertainment, supplies and labour.
- Communicate information in a timely manner to the hotel and partners.
- Hold pre-con meetings to ensure all department heads are knowledgeable about the festival long weekends, as well as ensuring the seamless execution of events
- Assist in the creation of informative package brochures
- Develop children programs, childcare services and babysitting agency partnerships
- Inspect all Guest Activities and pool areas, ensuring they are well-maintained, clean, safe, and fully prepared for daily operation, including overseeing the upkeep of the Children’s Creative Centre to maintain a secure and child-friendly environment.
- Assists in planning itineraries for VIP guests and being their point of contact at the property.
- Work closely with the Front Office leadership, F&B and Concierge teams to align daily activities, identify revenue opportunities, and track guest demand and participation trends across all programs.
Qualifications And Requirements
- A University Degree or College Diploma in Recreation, or Educational field / or 2 years of similar field experience preferred
- Strong Team player with proven leadership, and exceptional communication skills
- Must be highly energetic, self-motivated and able to make solid, strategic decisions
- An eye for detail and a vision for excellence
- Strong planning, multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Engaging, welcoming and empowering
- Enthusiastic about Guest Activities, creative, positive, and outgoing personality
- Passionate about delivery of child-oriented recreation programs
- Strong knowledge of activities and services offered in and around the Kananaskis Valley.
- Comfortable with common computer skills
- Experience in coaching and developing employees with strong performance management skills.
- Experience in sales and marketing or event planning would be an asset.
