Associate Dean, Trades
About the role
Applications are invited for the position of Associate Dean, School of Trades in the School of Media, Trades and Technology Division, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $125,153 to $156,441 for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
Reporting to the Dean of Media, Trades and Technology, the successful candidate works collaboratively with a high performance academic, administrative, and support divisional team to lead in the development, delivery and ongoing review of the full-time and part-time post-secondary and non post-secondary programs and services in the department. The Associate Dean will ensure that the programs are effectively and efficiently delivered, meet Ministry, College Quality Assurance Audit Processes (CQAAP), Credential Validation Service (CVS) or Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) standards, and are relevant to the needs of college students. The School of Trades offers a range of apprenticeship, techniques and technician programs all of which are all offered in classroom and specialized lab facilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for planning and implementing the academic delivery of School of Trades courses and programs, in line with college budget and enrolment forecasts
- Provide leadership in the development, design, and renewal of curriculum
- Conduct effective hiring and development of faculty, and management of workload assignments
- Supervise faculty and staff as they manage the delivery of courses and programs in the portfolio
- Collaborate with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty, and college stakeholders to ensure that courses and programs are delivered effectively and efficiently with a focus on quality and student success
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of the overall apprenticeship training plan for the college, as well as appropriate level of communications and liaison with Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) staff, Heads of Apprenticeship Training (HAT) provincial committee and other external apprenticeship-related organizations
- Resolve academic integrity cases, dealing with student issues, attending community and college recruitment events, and participating on college-wide committees are also responsibilities of the Associate Dean
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field of study
- Minimum nine (9) years combined experience, including management and industry experience
- Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching at a post-secondary level
- Preferred candidates will possess a Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in a relevant trade
- Experience with curriculum design and development in a post-secondary/adult environment
- Advanced team building, collaboration, and networking abilities
- Superior skills in communication, problem solving/conflict resolution, organizational, and prioritizing within a multi-faceted role
