Farm: Ice River Sustainable Solutions | About
Location: Feversham, near Collingwood, Ontario
Position Summary The farm Hand is responsible for supporting day-to-day farm operations and seasonal property management activities. this position operates a wide range of agricultural equipment including tractors and snow removal equipment, performs general farm labour, and ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous upkeep of fields, buildings, machinery, and surrounding grounds.
This is a year-round role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, independent work habits, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt to changing weather, crop cycles, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities Farm Operations:
- Perform general farm labour including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and field maintenance.
- Operate tractors and all types of farm equipment and snow removal equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct basic equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain fence lines, laneways, barns, storage buildings, and equipment areas. Perform snow removal in winter for the farm laneways.
- Monitor fields and crops for pests, soil conditions, and irrigation needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols, equipment operation standards, and farm policies.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on all machinery and report defects or hazards immediately.
- Ensure safe storage of fuels, chemicals, and tools in compliance with regulatory and farm requirements.
Qualifications Education & Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience in farming
- Experience operating tractors, loaders, skid steers, and similar farm/heavy equipment required.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Valid Class G licence; Class A or DZ licence is an asset.
- Experience with snow removal equipment is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of farm safety and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Problem-solving ability to address equipment issues or operational challenges.
- Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to changing work priorities.
Working Conditions
- Year-round, full-time role with seasonal variations in workload.
- Outdoor work in varying climate conditions
- Frequent operation of tractors and farm machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and operate equipment for extended periods.
