What you'll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s FX Technology team, the Senior Project Manager, IT is a seasoned expert responsible for overseeing the day-to-day project activities of complex projects of a tactical nature, ensuring project control procedures and policies are adhered as per technology’s project performance standards. The role works with minimal direction, applying deep knowledge in their field of expertise to manage the delivery of project management best practices and processes including reporting, project planning, and support activities. The Senior Project Manager, IT uses significant latitude in determining objectives and leads employees in the development of analytical approaches, while establishing and maintaining client, senior management, and project manager relationships. In addition, the role provides status updates and progress reports to project stakeholders to manage expectations related to scope and timeline constraints.

How you'll succeed
- Project Management – Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs. Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project. Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan.
- Delivery Management - In addition to overarching project management duties, the Senior Project Manager will be pivotal in refining delivery frameworks—strengthening contract management, financial stewardship, and the execution of projects within our pipeline. The role also encompasses fostering effective communication with business sponsors and developing best practices to streamline project delivery, ensuring cross-functional alignment among business development, quality assurance, business analysis, and production support teams.
- AI Curious - Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance project delivery or management processes, or a demonstrated curiosity and initiative in exploring AI-driven efficiencies, will be highly regarded. Candidates who can showcase practical examples of AI adoption—such as automating routine tasks, improving reporting, or streamlining workflows—will bring added value to our continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaboration – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services. Coach and mentor, your teams as you work toward a common goal. Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.
- Project Coordination – Proactively identify risks to the project schedule and find ways to mitigate them. Monitor milestones; ensure they are completed according to timelines and budgets. Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.
- Communication and Persuasion – Share ideas, build consensus, and write with impact. Chair meetings and

Who you are
- You can demonstrate at 5+ years of experience in project management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry. You have managed cross-portfolio projects in a matrix environment. You have experience with waterfall and agile methodologies and knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC). You have experience with project management and issue management tools like Planview, ServiceNow, and JIRA. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, mid to large-scale technology initiatives within the Capital Markets sector. Your deep understanding of the industry’s ecosystem—including its stakeholders, regulatory landscape, and operational intricacies—enables you to navigate challenges and drive impactful results. You excel at fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams and possess the strategic insight required to advance organizational objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. t’s an asset if you have your PMP/CSM designations.
- You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. I
