POSITION DETAILS
The District program class is designed to support Elementary students in Grades 5 - 7 who have giftedness in their learning profile. All students have P designations and IEPs. MACC Teachers work closely and collaboratively with the District Principal of Inclusive Education, school administration, school and district staff, teachers of other Multi-Age Cluster Classes and parents. Students participate in an interdisciplinary and conceptually advanced program designed to challenge and develop the depth and breadth of the student's critical and creative thinking abilities utilizing a diverse range of higher- level thinking models. Reflection on individual learning style, social emotional development, the nature of excellence and group dynamic are integral parts of the curriculum. Defining personal interests and individual goals and demonstrating a personal work ethic are important aspects of the classroom experience. It is a blend of enrichment and acceleration. MACC is based on the 4 pillars model of numeracy, literacy, project-based learning and autonomous learning.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a Bachelor of Education
- Education and/or successful experience in working with learners with giftedness in their learning profile
- Experience and Skills in developing Individualized Education Plans
- Ability to implement effective and differentiated teaching practices to meet individual learner needs
- BC Teaching Certificate
- Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service
