Unison at Kerby Centre is a non-profit organization located in the west end of downtown Calgary. Dedicated to enhancing life for older Calgarians, Kerby Centre offers an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful community development and build a career in the charitable sector.
- Position: Human Resources Administrator (Canada Summer Job)
- Compensation: $17 per hour
- Terms of Employment: Fixed Term Contract – 8 weeks starting 18 May 2026.
- Location: Calgary
Job Purpose:
To provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department, managing employee records, assisting with recruitment, onboarding and other compliance requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee records:
- Organize and manage employee physical and digital records.
- Construct physical files for new hires
- Update existing files
- Scan the new documents to file digitally
Recruitment process:
- Post jobs
- conduct phone screening for selected candidates
- schedule interviews
- conduct reference checks
Onboarding process:
- Organize new hire paperwork and logistics.
- Coordinate with the new hire department, facilities and IT to ensure smooth transition.
Support the General Office of the CEO: Organizing physical and digital files in the General Office.
Scanning and printing

Handling sensitive information with discretion

Help with data entry, office supplies, and inventories.

Other administrative tasks as necessary
Other duties:
- Monitor Police check requirements and follow-up with employees whose records are expired.
- Other administrative tasks as requested by the Senior Manager of Human Resources.
Job Requirements:
Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program:
- Age between 15 to 30 years
- Be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident (International students are not eligible)
- At least 2 years post secondary education or enrolled in a degree or diploma program in human resources or administration.
Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and personal employee information responsibility.
- Good computer skills and flexibility to learn HR systems (ADP)
Working Hours:
Summer youth are required to work 8 weeks, 35 hours/week. Hours will be 8am to 4pm including a one hour of unpaid lunch break.

Kerby Centre was founded as an organization that would be run by seniors, for seniors. The Board of Directors is comprised entirely of seniors and is responsible for the operation of Kerby Centre. Assisting the Board are fifty professional staff and over 400 volunteers.
