Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Outdoors. Hot. Dusty. Tasks: Operate heavy equipment. Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks. Measure distance, volume, length and weight. Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS). Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Prepare accident reports. Secure special attachments to equipment. Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment. Operate hydraulic pumping systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of heavy equipment operated: Backhoe excavator, loader. Caterpillar (CAT) controls. John Deere controls. Area of work experience: Demolition. Excavation. Rough grading. Sloping and banking. Trenching. Type of industry experience: Industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) construction. Residential construction. Road construction. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety vest. Gloves.
