Maskwa High Voltage (MHV) is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.

Opportunity MHV is currently seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to join our team in Calgary to support the transmission lines design group. Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership, guidance and mentorship to the transmission lines team.
• Review designs against applicable industry codes and client standards as well as internal MHV process.
• Work closely with other disciplines to coordinate design efforts.
• Prepare cost estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, and design packages.
• Conduct detailed design of transmission lines layout, including routing options, structure spotting, and sag and tension calculations etc.
• Prepare relevant Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and engineering reports.
• Write construction scope of work and prepare IFC construction binders.
• Provide engineering support during construction.
• Oversee the preparation of, As-Built drawings and project close out data.
• Provide technical guidance to the design teams.
• Track project progress for engineering activities to ensure budgets and schedules are met.
• Provide weekly updates to senior management regarding projects progress, budgets and

resourcing.

• Provide on the job training for new hires and junior members of the team.
• Maintain in depth knowledge of client and industry standards.
• Carry out engineering calculations for transmission and distribution lines, and utility grounding systems.
• Provide line design and analysis using PLS Cadd software.
• Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase and field inspections during the project construction phase.
• Actively promote Safety in Design.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• Proven track record in transmission lines design of high voltage facilities.
• Minimum 10 years’ work experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work with a wide spectrum of clients.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
• Positive attitude, strong client focus and results driven.
• Previous experience with PLS Cadd software.
• Registered as an active member with APEGA or eligibility for registration.

Preferred

• 10-15 years' experience working in utility transmission lines,
• Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
