About the role
We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team. In this role, you’ll design, implement, and evaluate high-quality programs for children, ensuring they are safe, engaging, and developmentally enriching. You’ll work in alignment with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), MCSS standards, and our Club’s mission to create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Purpose: You will develop, promote, implement, supervise, support, and evaluate early years programs that meet the needs of children aged 18 months – 4 years of age. Your work will directly contribute to the healthy cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of our youngest learners, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.
What You Will Do: Program Services Assess preschool needs for children’s programming (18 months to 4 years of age) and set achievable goals for groups or individual children. Apply policies and procedures from Toronto Public Health, CCEYA and Children’s Services Operating Criteria for Child Care Services (Quality Assessments) in all areas. Ensure programs and staff comply with all policies, procedures, and professional service standards. Develop, promote, implement, and evaluate preschool programs based on assessed needs and defined goals. Maintain the safety and security of all children during programs. Ensure supplies, equipment, and facilities are available, safe, and in good working condition. Recommend new initiatives and respond to emerging trends in early childhood education. Collaborate with colleagues, community groups, and other service providers. Assist in training, supervising, supporting, and evaluating preschool program staff, including assistants, part-time staff, volunteers, practicum students, relief staff, and contract staff. General Responsibilities Prepare, implement, and facilitate weekly program plans that are age-appropriate and enhance children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Maintain accurate attendance records and conduct regular head counts. Observe and document children’s progress and behaviours, adjusting programs to meet developmental, cultural, social/emotional, and behavioural needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. Provide appropriate supervision to children at all times and utilize age appropriate behaviour guidance techniques. Complete all necessary reports, paperwork, documentation, and administrative tasks in a timely manner.
What You’ll Bring Current registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE). Strong knowledge of the CCEYA, Public Health and early years quality assessment frameworks. Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation for children aged 18 months to 4 years of age. Excellent punctuality, communication, observation, and documentation skills. CPR and Standard First Aid certification. A collaborative spirit and a passion for creating inclusive, engaging learning environments. Ability to self-reflect and utilize communication skills to assist with building a collaborate work environment with the BGC St. Alban's team.
Additional Information: Full time position is salaried and a comprehensive benefits package (including health, dental, and vision coverage) is provided after probationary period has lapsed.
