About the role

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Category Manager on a temporary basis (up to 12 months) on our Home and Building Solutions team (HABS). This position is a hybrid opportunity and can be based anywhere in Western Canada .

Are you someone who has experience providing long-term strategies for product categories, and collaborating with a team to increase HABS product sales and profit margins? If so, this is the position for you!

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement short- to mid-term strategies and execution plans to effectively market products and programs, aligning with evolving consumer needs and market dynamics.
  • Leverage CRS and industry data to conduct competitive analysis on pricing, products, and programs, ensuring market relevance and positioning.
  • Utilize industry insights to design and execute growth strategies for key sections, aligning with departmental goals and the consumer scorecard.
  • Oversee the Business Category to meet targeted objectives across sales, margin performance, inventory management, product turnover, and service levels.

Who you’ll work with:

You will work closely with Category Coordinators, Procurement Specialists, System Maintenance Clerks, local Co-ops, vendors, and will report to the Category Development Manager, Hardware. This team strives to cultivate a culture of collaboration, autonomy, and results.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Sales & Marketing and:

  • Have 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in consumer wholesale/retail, with a preference in marketing, buying, or customer service (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration.
  • Have home and building solutions experience is an asset.
