Job Summary:

Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, Long Term Care Manager and Chief Nursing Officer, Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) are accountable to provide quality nursing care to stable patients and residents whose outcomes are predictable. RPNs work on both the Acute and Long-Term Care units and promote health, assess, plan, provide, coordinate and evaluate care and treatment with the ultimate goal of achieving the best possible patient outcomes. Delivery of patient care and professional practice is consistent with the scope of practice of the Registered Practical Nurse as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, and the policies of the Hospital.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

  • Membership in RPNAO is preferred.

  • Current BCLS.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Intent to pursue specialty certification where applicable.

  • If graduated prior to 2005, Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Physical Assessment for RPNs courses are a requirement for employment within scope of practice.

  • Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination.

Atikokan General Hospital is a fully accredited 41-bed facility. We offer emergency, acute care (including cardiac care), complex continuing care, long-term care, and a full range of diagnostic services. A team of rehabilitation therapists provide inpatient, outpatient and home care services.

Health care services are provided to all residents of Atikokan and the surrounding area and with a complement of 100 employees, we serve approximately 6,000 outpatients on a yearly basis.
