The Opportunity:
At WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Geotechnical Engineering, operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert on engineering design challenges for our clients. Our team is expanding, and we're seeking a highly motivated Lead Geotechnical Engineers to join our Geotechnical-GTA West Group within Earth & Environment Business Line in WSP’s Mississauga office on a full-time basis.
As a Lead Geotechnical Engineer , you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects, working closely with, and supported by, other team members and Project Directors. You will be actively involved in business development, contributing to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenging problems. You will be responsible for supporting the strategic growth of our geotechnical practice while ensuring technical excellence in delivering projects for WSP’s public and private sector clients.

What you can expect to do here:
- Serve as the lead geotechnical engineer for subsurface exploration programs, design of foundations, and construction on a wide range of projects, including transportation and infrastructure (highway/railroad, water/wastewater, etc.) and property and building developments.
- Contribute to growth, innovation, and project delivery to ensure client success within WSP’s Earth & Environment Business Line.
- Develop new client relationships and enhance existing ones, including securing new work opportunities.
- Lead geotechnical engineering projects, including execution of design-build and design-bid-build projects with a multi-disciplinary team from across the country.
- Support all aspects of project delivery, including financial analysis, client liaison, consultation, quality control, and management of subcontractors.
- Develop, technical reports, memoranda, specifications, presentations, proposals, and cost estimates for medium to large-sized projects of medium to high complexity.
- Represent WSP at conferences/workshops as a technical lead.
- Mentor geotechnical engineering staff and provide guidance on technical challenge.
- Work collaboratively with engineering staff from various teams/disciplines on geotechnical consulting projects
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Participate in and promote a safety-first culture
What you'll bring to WSP:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university

Postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
-
12+ years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering environment
-
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO
-
Demonstrated experience related to geotechnical engineering, including business development, analysis and design.

Extensive working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
-
Previous experience related to presentation of technical topics to clients.

Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to manage budgets and schedules.

Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
