Overview Responsible for fusing pipe of various diameters by means of electric welding processes. Repair damaged or broken metal objects. Responsible for the layout and flame cutting of metals with a cutting torch. Oversee operation of tapping, plugging and freeze equipment during service work assignments to ensure safe and proper use of equipment and satisfactory completion of job. Perform work assignments that conform with established capabilities. Key Responsibilities Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Secure necessary jigs, fixtures, and filler material to properly perform welding operations on a variety of metals and alloys; keep up to date on all equipment maintenance and operational procedures to ensure safe, proper maintenance and use of equipment and satisfactory completion of job. Assist customer in planning and coordinating use of line intervention equipment for safest and most efficient completion of projects; develop and maintain good relations with all customers and act as the site representative during tapping and welding operations. Oversee handling, assembly, operation, and disassembly of T.D. Williamson (TDW) line intervention equipment in compliance with established quality assurance procedures during field operations. Comply with TDW and customer safety standards and procedures and stop any work using TDW equipment when unsafe conditions exist which threaten equipment, property damage or bodily injury. Prepare report(s) detailing equipment performance results and other essential data; summarize completed reports, time, and job tickets in a timely manner. Perform maintenance and repair of TDW equipment and/or other duties as required in shop, and other tasks as may be required from time to time by upper management. Work requires a valid driver’s license and/or passport. Experience Technical or vocational degree and five (5) to ten (10) years of welding experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience in x-ray quality welding in the following welding processes: GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, or FCAW. Qualified for all positions to ASME section IX, API 1104, and API 1104 appendix B. Valid ABSA B-Pressure welding certification. Provincial Journeyman or Red Seal certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of hydraulics. Working knowledge of overhead cranes and forklifts. Advanced knowledge of B-Pressure welding and in GMAW, GTAW, FCAW and SMAW processes using both electric and engine drive power supplies. Ability to read blueprints and make fit ups to blueprint tolerances. Ability to weld complete joint, including Root Pass, Hot Pass, Fill and Cap passes using Stringer Beads. Ability to de-seam, brush, clean and grind, as required. Ability to performs minor repairs and adjustments of equipment. Ability to use cutting torches, burning machines, welding machines, arc welders, torches, burning machines, shape cutters, welding positioners, overhead cranes, and assorted hand tools, works on-site at pipeline or refinery to fuse pipe of various diameters. Ability to work in awkward working positions in field applications. Ability to climb, kneel, weld in vertical position, and lift a maximum of 50lbs without assistance from lifting devices. Ability to travel extensively within Canada, as required. Ability to speak English required.
