Our growing company is seeking energetic, positive, and reliable Electrical Designer to support our customers.

Employment Type: We are open to both Full-time and Part-time candidates. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and employment type.

Full-time: $90,000–$105,000 per year

Part-time: $45–$55 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate in the development of conceptual and detailed equipment designs, ensuring adherence to design standards and client requirements. Mentor junior engineering staff, providing technical oversight and promoting best practices. Design and analyze electrical power distribution systems for nuclear and industrial facilities. Conduct condition assessments of electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, motors, and generators. Develop and maintain life cycle plans, inspection, and testing programs for electrical systems. Lead engineering change initiatives, following established Engineering Change Control procedures. Perform electrical analysis, including equipment protection and cable/equipment selection. Engage with construction and procurement teams, as well as stakeholders, to provide technical expertise throughout the project life cycle from initial concept through implementation and close-out. Support field engineering activities related to plant modifications, offering on-site technical guidance. Lead multidisciplinary project teams, offering technical direction and oversight. Assess client needs to provide effective engineering solutions. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project outcomes. Stay informed about industry developments, including technologies, codes, and standards. Regular site visits within the GTA are required. Perform other duties as assigned by project management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering. Registered with the PEO as a P.Eng, or currently pursuing P.Eng certification. Strong experience in electrical power distribution design and analysis, preferably within nuclear power generation. Familiarity with generating station upgrades, system protection, and stability. Proven experience in assessing electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motors, and generators. Comprehensive knowledge of lifecycle management for electrical components. Proficiency in using software tools, including AutoCAD, ETAP, REVIT, and MicroStation, or similar platforms, for electrical system modeling and design. Comprehensive knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in nuclear and industrial sectors, with proven adherence to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), CSA standards, and Ontario Building Code (OBC) in all electrical design projects. Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as N299 and CSA N286. Experience in project management, including leading multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with Engineering Change Control processes and nuclear plant operations is an asset. Strong time management and communication skills, with a commitment to building trust with clients. Proven ability to lead technical projects to successful completion, demonstrating an innovative mindset and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions. Skilled in proposal development and contract negotiations, with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritize multiple tasks to meet project deadlines. Must be willing to travel to client sites as required.
