About the role

This posting is for a current vacancy.

As we continue to grow and evolve, with expanding operations, new acquisitions, and increasing scale across Canada, we are strengthening our Finance capabilities to support a more technology-enabled and high-performing organization. We are beginning our search for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead system optimization, automation, and process modernization across Accounts Payable and related accounting workflows. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who combines strong operational expertise with a passion for process improvement, systems optimization, and technology-driven transformation.

While maintaining full ownership of Accounts Payable operations, this role will also focus on redesigning processes and strengthening systems and controls to support scalability, visibility, and performance.

In addition to the duties typically expected of a senior-level Accounts Payable professional, responsibilities will include:

Accounts Payable Operations and Reporting

  • Overseeing invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment runs.
  • Working directly alongside the team to ensure accuracy, throughput, and service standards.
  • Ensuring vendor setup, maintenance, and issue resolution are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintaining strong data integrity and proper documentation within the ERP system.
  • Supporting month end close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Monitoring AP aging, payment timelines, and transaction volumes to identify trends and risks.

Systems Implementation and Optimization

  • Serve as the functional owner for accounts payable and related accounting workflows within Yardi or similar ERP platforms.
  • Lead system enhancement initiatives, including configuration changes, workflow redesign, and reporting improvements.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and partner with IT and vendors on execution.
  • Support system upgrades, integrations, and data migrations related to finance operations.
  • Test new functionality, manage user acceptance testing, and coordinate go live activities.
  • Ensure optimal system utilization across the AP team and related stakeholders.

Automation and Process Transformation

  • Identify automation opportunities across invoice intake, approvals, coding, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Map current state processes and design scalable future state workflows aligned with organizational growth.
  • Reduce manual touchpoints through workflow automation, system configuration, and digital tools.
  • Develop performance metrics and dashboards to monitor cycle time, exception rates, workload, and efficiency gains.
  • Standardize and document processes to drive consistency and accountability.

Controls, Risk, and Governance

  • Evaluate segregation of duties, access controls, and system-based approvals to mitigate risk.
  • Support audits related to finance systems and IT general controls/processes.
  • Promote data integrity, compliance, and governance across financial operations.
  • Recommend control enhancements that align with best practices in financial systems oversight.

Change Enablement and Stakeholder Partnership

  • Lead change initiatives associated with system implementations and workflow redesign.
  • Develop training materials and facilitate user training sessions to ensure successful adoption.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Finance, IT, Property Accounting, and Operations on system related initiatives.
  • Communicate clearly on system enhancements, performance metrics, and improvement outcomes.

Operational Support

  • Maintain close alignment with the Accounts Payable function to ensure system stability and operational continuity.
  • Provide analytical support during month end close and reporting cycles as required.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable or related finance roles, including supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Post secondary education in information systems, business technology, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in finance operations, ERP systems, business analysis, or accounting technology roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale projects or supporting finance system implementations with major system enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems is preferred, ideally with Yardi or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to influence cross functional teams and support change adoption.
  • Bilingualism in French & English is considered an asset but not required.

This is an opportunity to lead a core finance function through scale, modernization, and intelligent automation while contributing to a real estate platform that is building for long-term growth.
