About the role
Who We Are
We’re a team that puts customers first, invests in our people, and takes pride in being part of the local community. Whether you’re just starting out in your career or looking for a role where you can grow, we’d love to meet you.
What’s in it for You
- Hands-on learning and product knowledge training
- Real opportunities to grow and advance within the company
- Employee discount on retail products after the first three months
- Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) to support your well-being and that of your family
- A team culture built on three core values: Customers First, Inspired People, and Community Connection
About the Role
As a Warehouse Associate, you’ll be the friendly face our customers count on from the moment they pull into the moment they drive away. You’ll help them find exactly what they need, load up their vehicles, and keep our warehouse running smoothly. This is an active role, and no two days are the same.
You’re generally the first and last point of contact for our customers, so your attitude and energy make a real difference. You’ll also work closely with the rest of the yard and store team to make sure everything runs like clockwork.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting all customers in a friendly manner within 60 seconds of their arrival
- Approaching and interacting with any customers within 15 feet of you
- Helping customers find products and sharing product knowledge, including being able to identify and differentiate lumber species, grades, dimensions, and common building materials
- Using our customer service approach – Greet, Qualify, Recommend, and Close – to understand each customer’s project and suggest the right products (and any helpful add-ons)
- Loading products into customers’ vehicles
- Completing daily warehouse upkeep: labelling products and prices, maintaining pallets, and keeping stock organized
- Keeping the warehouse clean, safe, and welcoming for both customers and teammates
- Collaborating with the store team to communicate product availability, flag stock issues, and ensure a seamless customer experience from warehouse to checkout
- Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards
- Staying in the loop on current promotions and product availability
- Completing opening and closing duties for the yard
What We’re Looking For
No experience in lumber or construction? No problem, we’ll teach you what you need to know! Here’s what will set you up for success:
- A passion for customer service and a go-above-and-beyond attitude
- Curiosity and willingness to build product knowledge
- Willingness to learn about products and a genuine curiosity about what customers are building
- A collaborative, team-first mindset
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented with a strong commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in all types of weather conditions
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Forklift certification or previous forklift experience is an asset
- Previous experience in lumber, construction, or retail is an asset
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and come be part of a team that’s proud of where they work and who they serve.
