This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of Sims Square. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Effective September 2027, this role will be required to be on site 50% of the time each month.

Position Overview

The Business Lead, Finance plays a key role in supporting and optimizing the City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by providing operational, reporting, advisory and decision-making expertise. This position is responsible for ensuring the ongoing functionality, configuration, and integrity of the ERP system to support business continuity and meet the Corporation's evolving operational needs. Working collaboratively with departments across the organization, the Business Lead, Finance builds strong relationships, provides strategic guidance, and champions continuous improvement to enhance business processes and maximize the value of the City's ERP system.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for: Act as the Finance subject matter expert for the City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring the ongoing functionality, configuration, and optimization of Finance-related processes. Manage the day-to-day operation of Finance functionality within the ERP system, including troubleshooting issues, coordinating system enhancements, testing new functionality, and supporting software releases. Develop, maintain, and oversee financial data standards, system configuration, and governance to ensure data integrity, compliance with accounting standards, and alignment with corporate policies and best practices. Collaborate with business partners, Information Technology, and system administrators to implement enhancements, improve business processes, and integrate financial data with other corporate systems. Analyze business requirements, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency and support evolving business needs. Provide expert advice and consultative support to departments and local boards on financial system functionality, internal controls, reporting, and business processes. Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of accounting services for local boards, including system configuration, data conversion, and ongoing financial reporting support. Develop and deliver user training, documentation, and job aids, while providing ongoing support to users to encourage effective adoption of new and existing system functionality. Monitor system performance, identify risks related to financial information integrity and internal controls, and provide timely recommendations and updates to Finance leadership. Represent Finance on corporate ERP governance committees, cross-functional working groups, and external ERP forums, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have: A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. An MBA is considered an asset. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred. Workday Financials Certification and Workday Platform Administration Certification is considered an asset. A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience supporting financial systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, or related business applications. Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing ERP systems, preferably Workday Financials.

Experience with Questica and CentralSquare software is considered an asset

Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, internal controls, and data governance. Experience analyzing business requirements, implementing system enhancements, and supporting business process improvements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
