About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Java Developer to join our dynamic team at the Morgan Stanley Office in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This role requires a professional with extensive experience in backend development, particularly in Java and Spring Boot frameworks. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade backend applications within the Financial and Wealth Management domain. This is a full-time onsite position, offering an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge financial systems that impact global markets. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that adhere to enterprise security and compliance standards.
Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 10+ years of overall professional experience, with at least 7+ years of relevant experience in backend development. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is essential, along with extensive experience working with relational databases and data modeling. Candidates should have a strong understanding of enterprise backend architecture, performance tuning, and RESTful service development. Certifications related to Java or Spring Boot are advantageous but not mandatory. Experience in financial services or wealth management systems will be considered a significant plus. The candidate must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Create and optimize RESTful services and backend components to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Work closely with database teams to perform data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning for RDBMS databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Support application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary fixes to ensure stability and reliability.
- Ensure all development activities comply with enterprise security policies and regulatory requirements.
