About the role

Position: Telecommunication Information Systems Technologist

Duration: 12 Months assignment (contract) Client Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite Role): 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday) Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

This position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

Key Responsibilities

System & Technical Support Providing technical expertise for communications and information systems supporting AFRRCS network and “Push-To-Talk” voice and data radio services. Supporting, testing, configuring, and confirming operational capabilities of IT systems. Maintaining operational readiness, system availability, and ongoing technical evolution of IT systems.

Testing & Implementation

Developing and executing test plans for: System upgrades and enhancements Manufacturer upgrades First Responder Agency migrations Disaster recovery and business continuity Operations & Maintenance Performing patching, upgrades, backups, recovery, and user account management Supporting system performance, outages, and service requests Troubleshooting network and server issues Project & Stakeholder Support Working with First Responder agencies on system configuration and migration Participating in planning and progress meetings Preparing status reports and documentation for senior leadership Additional Duties Identifying risks and mitigation strategies Supporting cross-functional IT initiatives Assisting during emergencies or urgent operational situations

Hardware: Dell PowerEdge (R640, R750) Dell PowerStore NetApp FAS series Unitrends Recovery LogLogic servers Sourcefire systems Software & Platforms: Windows / Linux / Solaris VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam Active Directory Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Sybase and enterprise databases SolarWinds, CiscoPrime, Centerity ATLAS ticketing system Work Conditions Contract term: September 20, 2026 – September 19, 2029 Possible extension: up to 24 months May require work evenings, weekends, and holidays On-site presence in Alberta (St. Albert facility) with provided workspace and systems Job Specs (Requirements) Mandatory Requirements Must possess a current Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification Must demonstrate experience with communication technology systems using virtualization Minimum: 2 projects (last 10 years, 3+ months each) Must confirm ability to travel throughout Alberta Must provide a current criminal record check (within 90 days) Must hold a current Secret Security Clearance Desirable Requirements IT-related degree/diploma and/or professional certifications Experience with: Sybase, VoIP, RoIP, syslog, server virtualization High-security and high-availability environments Anti-virus and intrusion detection systems Experience with: SAN technologies Active Directory security configurations Enterprise hardware (Dell, NetApp, etc.)

Experience

Testing high-availability systems Supporting IT systems for First Responder environments Working with multi-vendor / multi-stakeholder environments
