Our member, YSC, is looking to hire a CAT Equipment Operator based in Kitchener, ON , to join their team.
Job Description TNT Property Maintenance AKA Your Salt Connection (YSC) is in the business of operating a Winter Supply/Service Yard to Contractors and Homeowners. We are a family business, operating as YSC since 2010. YSC has succeeded to be a leader in our industry streamlining the process for Contractors to pick up products. We advertise the following hours: Product Pick up 9pm till 5pm (closed for only 4 hours a day). Repairs 7am5pm Monday – Friday. After-hours and weekend repairs are available at an additional cost. YSC may be open 24 hours a day for product pick up due to weather.
YSC is seeking mature, experienced professionals to join our Team. This is a seasonal job running roughly from the beginning of November till March. Job Requirements:
- Operate CAT skid steers & CAT loaders proficiently.
- Be prepared and show up on time for shifts free from the influence of any drugs, alcohol or medicines that influence safety or productivity,
- Document and report any hazards or issues on shift,
- Comply with all company policies and procedures,
- Ensure all PPE is worn in compliance with Company and Legislative requirements,
- Lift & carry 50 pounds on a regular basis,
- Prepare daily work records of activities (record shovelling and salting activities)
As an Equipment Operator you will be responsible for:

Operation of a CAT loader or skid steer to:
-
load trucks with bulk products or skids of products
-
plow snow at our yard & pile snow in designated and approved locations only on site
-
receive loads of bulk salt and push into the dome, out of the weather
-
receive loads of skids
-
reload bag bunkers
-
make treated salt (mix salt and liquid additive)
-
make sand/salt mix (mix salt with coarse sand)
-
refueling machine at the end of the shift
-
inspect equipment daily
-
If there is not an office person on shift: use the excel program & invoice customers, take payments (cash & debit/credit) and record customer pickups.

Ensure the safety of Customers and Workers.

After plowing, salt area plowed,
-
Salt or sand areas during freezing rain,
-
Shovel and salt steps, in front of all doors and in front of the bag bunkers,
-
Clean up the bag bunkers: stack empty skids to the side of the bunkers, bag all garbage and dispose in dumpster, open up additional skids of product, move damaged bags to designated area.
-
Check port-a-potty during the shift, remove and dispose of garbage and spray with disinfectant.

Ensure office trailer is kept clean: wipe down counters, change garbage and dispose in dumpster, spray touchable areas with disinfectant or wipe down with Lysol wipes.

For Overnight Shifts: Shift start time is 8:45pm (yard opens at 9pm) till 8:45am (12-hour shift). When we transition to 24 hours, the shift start time will change to 7pm, end time 7am (12-hour shift)

For Day Shifts: Shift start time is 7am. Normal end time 5pm (10-hour shift), but may be extended to 7pm due to weather (12-hour shift).
Additional Roles at YSC:
- Assisting in the repairs of plows and salters.
- Assisting in the installation of plows, salters, and accessories.
- Assisting in the delivery of products.
Work Conditions
- Either overnight or daytime shifts available.
- Work outdoors in various extreme weather conditions including extreme cold, high winds, rain, snow & hail.
- Extended shifts available due to weather conditions/ repair list.

- Excellent problem solving abilities
- Ability to deal with the public in a calm, patient and professional manner
- Customer and quality focused
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Responsible, dependable and honest
- Reliable & punctual attendance
- Asset if you have a valid G licence and clean drivers abstract
