ABOUT TRAVERSE INDEPENDENCE
Traverse Independence was founded in 1975 as an agency dedicated to developing housing with support services for people with physical disabilities. Since then, our organization has evolved with a new name, as well as from offering services for adults with physical disabilities to serving those with a brain injury through eight facilities in the Region of Waterloo and County of Wellington. We are dedicated to the mission of maximizing our clients ability to live independently by providing support services for adults with physical disabilities or brain injuries.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ATTENDANT CARE WORKER
As an Attendant Care Worker, you rely on your strong previous experience to learn the ins and outs of all your essential daily duties. You help our patients with their daily activities such as assisting with getting dressed in the morning, bathing, meal prep, laundry, and light housekeeping. You communicate effectively with our clients and their families to ensure that they have the best quality of care. You use your computer skills to keep up with charting and updating all records. This job requires you to have a flexible schedule and reliable transportation to and from each client's home.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Personal Support Worker certificate is required or equivalent experience
Experience providing personal care to clients with disabilities/complex care needs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with complex clientele
Flexible schedule and reliable transportation
Must have valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle with proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance and drivers abstract acceptable to Traverse Independence
Computer skills (charting in database)
Valid Level C CPR/Standard First Aid Certification
Ability to pass a background check
