About the role
(Full-time, permanent position)
Trinity College School is currently looking to fill the following position. Reporting to the Manager - Facilities Housekeeping, the Facilities Housekeeping Lead Hand is responsible for assigning work, performing cleaning and completing minor maintenance tasks to ensure that the campus buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary condition. This is a permanent, full-time position working afternoon shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- In addition to performing work in their own designated area, assign and review completion of work by other team members
- Report any repairs needed to furniture, fixtures or facilities
- Provide support to, and work with, other team members including security, maintenance and grounds personnel
- Clean by dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, disinfecting or scrubbing all surfaces of furniture, furnishings, floors, walls and any other surfaces
- Clean and maintain wax and polish finishes on floors, refinishing floors as required
- Request and restock cleaning supplies and materials and provide routine maintenance on cleaning tools and equipment
- Store cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order to maintain the safety of staff, students and the general public
- Clear and clean waste containers and dispose of refuse and recyclables
- Move furniture, materials and equipment as requested by the manager - facilities housekeeping; some heavy lifting may be required
- Ensure all doors in assigned work area are locked at the completion of shift
- Ensure staff have departed the shift
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Possess effective written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to multi-task and work under pressure
- Have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Be able to perform a physically demanding shift requiring constant activity; moderate to heavy lifting; the ability to navigate stairs several times a day and perform duties that may include a ladder
- A completed vulnerable sector police check
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures and equipment
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS regulations
- High school diploma, at minimum
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
