Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Director, Strategy, the Manager, Strategy will play a pivotal role in crafting enterprise strategy at Teck. This role will drive critical decisions on portfolio optimization, steward scenario thinking across the organization, and lead special projects in collaboration with senior executives, including the Chief Strategy Officer and Strategy Committee.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Frame and structure complex, business challenges to enable clear decision-making by senior leaders; define exam questions and areas of inquiry to focus analysis on the most material issues
- Spearhead work plan design by defining value drivers, data sources, and analysis sequencing to guide strategic recommendations
- Lead project management, modulation of workstreams, and activation of team members
- Lead cross-functional projects on behalf of the Strategy office, handling timelines, results, and stakeholder alignment to ensure thorough analysis and outcomes
- Provide partnership and support to the Director of Strategy and Chief Strategy Officer, helping shape priorities and responses to emerging challenges
- Provide apprenticeship and support to team members, cultivating a high-performance culture that activates learning and development
- Partner cross-functionally with senior leaders across Operations, Commercial, FP&A, Corporate Development, and asset-level management teams to ensure alignment between enterprise strategy and on-the-ground execution
- Apply problem-solving to evaluate business opportunities and risks, calibrating confidence levels and iteratively refining approaches as new insights emerge
- Translate enterprise objectives into workstreams that balance corporate priorities with site-specific realities
- Develop and deliver presentations and reports for the Strategy Committee and Board of Directors, distilling sophisticated findings into recommendations
- Collaborate with Investor Relations and Communications on external engagement strategies; prepare senior executives for high-profile meetings
- Supervise and evaluate progress against critical initiatives, total shareholder return (TSR) targets, and operational performance metrics
- Analyze geopolitical, technological, and economic shifts (e.g., trade, AI, conflict, energy transition) and assess their impact on the company’s portfolio, markets, and long-term strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 10-12 years of work experience in an analyst, senior analyst role and/or technical role with appropriate qualifications, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in a managerial or senior managerial role at a strategy consulting firm is an asset
- Outstanding ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguous problem sets, establishing frameworks to guide analysis and decision-making
- Outstanding ability to structure workflows, manage workstreams, and engage teams, cross-functional partners, and vendors
- Strong strategic thinking and reasoning skills, with the ability to test and refine hypotheses in uncertain environments
- Skilled in developing work plans, framing key questions, identifying data needs, and sequencing analyses to deliver actionable insights
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a track record of building relationships and credibility across senior levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- Thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and demonstrates agility in responding to shifting priorities and emerging issues
- Results-driven approach with strong planning, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, able to adapt messaging from executives to technical details
- Strong qualitative and quantitative skills including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; financial models, flex scenarios, and analysis of underlying value drivers
- Effective in leveraging internal and external SMEs, sources, and frameworks to drive insights and recommendations
- Delivers results quickly with a pragmatic 80/20 approach to complex problems
Pay Range: CAD $147,000 - $182,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
