TO Live is currently accepting applications for Cooks.

This is a seasonal part-time hourly position thart reports to the Executive Chef; and/or their designate and work independently or with team of 2 – 25 other cooks (event based). The role is based at Meridian Hall with occasional shifts at the Meridian Arts Centre and the St Lawrence Centre for the Arts.

The cook will work a varied schedule including weekdays, weekday evenings and weekends. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work any of the above. This is a unionized position; successful candidates will be required to join IATSE Local B-173.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high quality dishes

  • Preparing salads, sandwiches and assorted platters

  • Being able to follow recipes

  • Perform light-duty cleaning in the kitchen area including washing dishes.

  • Clear and dispose of garbage in designated areas.

  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

  • Working off site on occasion

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • 1 – 3 years experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment preferred.

  • Good knife handling and cutting techniques.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required

  • Lack of natural light in workplace

  • Travel between TO Live venues as required

TO Live is one of Canada’s largest multi-arts organizations, operating three iconic venues: Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Meridian Arts Centre.
