Job Summary

This position performs a wide range of functions related to the efficient delivery of special needs transportation services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, schedules and trains staff. Assists with the recruitment process and performs performance management process
  • Maintains records associated with all Transit staff training programs, vehicle accidents, adjudications and operator certifications and assessments.
  • Participates in investigations and analysis of workplace accidents, report’s findings and recommends corrective action.
  • Reviews and inputs daily payroll entries and makes adjustments as required.
  • Assists with bridging in the event of vehicle breakdown.
  • Manages inventory including the procurement of uniforms and footwear.
  • Provides support and assistance with special needs transportation customer service and registration, service delivery initiatives and implementation, policy development and implementation, quality control, statistical and demographic analysis, research and reporting.
  • Collects, monitors, analyses and reports special needs transportation data in response to internal and external requests. Manages special needs transportation database systems.
  • Assists with the preparation of reports, including the Annual Report, and provides research assistance for efficient and innovative approaches to special needs transportation service delivery.
  • Responds to enquiries from the public including investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Participates in public consultation and community meetings related to special needs transportation as directed by the Access Transit Manager.
  • Relieves Access Transit Operators in emergent situations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Works with Fixed Route Transit on special assignments and provides assistance on the road as needed.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of one year of a recognized post-secondary program in a related discipline.
  • Four to six years’ progressively responsible experience in public transportation special needs service delivery, including two years’ supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, leadership and training in order to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to manage and maintain various databases.
  • Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and manage conflicts in a positive and timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public, civic officials and co-workers.
  • Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, database and spreadsheet software.

Requires Security Check

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.

Additional Requirements

Weekly Hours: 36.67

Salary Range: $71,064.48 to $83,177.52 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
