##The Role:

The Physiotherapist is an integral member of the Multi-disciplinary team, responsible for assessing, reassessing, and developing individualized therapy plans aimed at promoting rehabilitation and maintaining residents at their optimal functional level. This role also involves the promotion of resident safety, dignity, and well-being, ensuring that a person-centered approach is at the core of care delivery.

The Physiotherapist actively contributes to the culture of safety within the facility, upholding the values of teamwork, diversity, and respect for the rights and individuality of residents, families, and staff. The role involves managing the Restorative Care Department and playing an active role in supporting the Foundation’s Mission, Vision, and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs based on residents’ therapy needs.
  • Continuously reassess resident progress and adjust therapy plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Promote resident independence through rehabilitation programs that focus on mobility, function, and well-being.
  • Support residents in accessing additional resources such as Alberta Aids to Daily Living, Seating Clinics, and other specialized services.
  • Encourage a culture of safety within the workplace and actively contribute to the Foundation's mission of promoting safety, quality of life, and person-centered care.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical practices and report any concerns according to Foundation policies.
  • Foster an environment that values teamwork, respect, and cultural sensitivity among residents, families, and staff.

##Who We're Looking For:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited program.
  • Current registration with the Alberta College of Physiotherapists (ACP).
  • Previous experience in a rehabilitation or long-term care setting is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to resident-centered care.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and staying current with physiotherapy practices.
  • Compassionate and empathetic with a strong sense of responsibility for the well-being of others.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, critical thinking, and a solutions-oriented approach in the workplace.
  • A strong advocate for resident safety, dignity, and the overall quality of care.

The Brenda Strafford Foundation owns and operates four Long Term Care and Assisted Living seniors care facilities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB, with over 800 beds and approximately 1000 staff. As a registered Canadian charitable organization, The Foundation is involved in a number of projects for innovation in seniors health and wellness.
