COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure. PPJV invites candidates to apply from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is advancing through a major payments modernization journey. The Product Analyst role is a career pathway into Product Management, combining product thinking, analytical rigor, and business process understanding.
The Product Analyst supports the strategy, development, and optimization of PPJV’s payment services by conducting market research, analyzing product and customer data, evaluating performance, and translating business needs into clear product requirements. This role blends core elements of product management—strategy, user understanding, and roadmap insights—with business analysis foundations such as requirements gathering, data mapping, and process improvement.
Product Analyst will have analytics skills, attitude of curiosity, and eagerness to build product expertise within payments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Market, Client & Industry Insight
- Conduct market research on payments trends, customer needs, competitive offerings, and regulatory shifts.
- Identify emerging opportunities and risks to help inform product strategy and roadmaps.
- Analyze customer feedback, user interactions, and product usage patterns to uncover insights.
Data Analysis & Product Performance
- Collect, analyze, and interpret product data to evaluate performance against KPIs.
- Track lifecycle performance and identify trends, issues, and opportunities for optimization.
- Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations highlighting insights and recommending actions.
- Support financial analysis, business cases, or pricing assessments as required.
Requirements, Documentation & User Stories
- Translate business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (technology, operations, risk, compliance) to validate requirements.
- Assist Product Managers with feature scoping, release planning, and prioritization.
Process & Systems Understanding
- Support analysis of current and future state business and technical processes.
- Conduct data mapping/data transformation work under the guidance of senior analysts or PMs.
- Identify process inefficiencies and opportunities for operational improvements within payment services.
- Participate in testing, validation, and quality checks for new features or system enhancements.
Product Lifecycle Support
- Contribute to product lifecycle activities: research, development, launch readiness, and post-release analysis.
- Monitor regulatory or Payments Canada updates and assess potential product impacts.
- Assist with vendor coordination, product documentation, and internal stakeholder reporting.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, operations teams, technology teams, and financial institution clients to support product outcomes.
- Provide structured updates on product findings, risks, and recommendations.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 2 years payments, financial services, or systems modernization environments experience is required.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

2+ years of experience in business analysis, product analysis, data analysis, or related roles.

Experience gathering requirements, conducting data analysis, or supporting technical/process initiatives.
-
AFT, E-Transfer, Bill Pay, Wires or Cheque experience is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Strong data analysis skills using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar.
- Ability to build visualizations and reports.
- Familiarity with product or project tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio).
- Understand payment systems, integration patterns, or ISO 20022 is an asset.
Business Skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Solid organizational and project coordination skills.
