About the role
Purpose
The Accounting Administrator is responsible for the time-sensitive receiving, checking, and processing of timesheets to the third-party processor for ILWU payroll, and general accounting-related tasks. This is a 12-month contract position.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile and process timesheets before forwarding for payroll processing.
- Administer and maintain all related reports as well as completing ad-hoc reporting requests.
- Complete all calculations for vacation pay, COLA payments and retro payments.
- Maintain records for reporting and analysis of double-shifts and all booked off time.
- Respond to queries regarding any pay corrections.
- Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Technical Knowlege & Experience
- Post-secondary training in payroll and/or accounting.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification would be an asset.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with a payroll system and reporting, ADP preferred.
- Experience working in a finance team.
- Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills, with attention to detail so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, and the proven ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
- Proven ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for achieving desired results.
- Motivation and the capability of working on own your initiative while contributing to the team.
- Fluent in English.
- Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
