Job summary

Our Vancouver office is currently looking for an experienced legal assistant in the area of real estate and financial services. The successful candidate will support a busy real estate and financial services practice on a wide range of residential, commercial and financial services transactions including acquisitions and sales of properties, real estate and land developments, and financing transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering files, from open to close, supporting a team of lawyers and collaborating with other team members, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and consistent follow-up
  • Performing various administrative tasks including billing and following up on outstanding accounts
  • Coordinating and facilitating document preparation
  • Communicating with clients on file matters
  • Making electronic inquiries and document filings with agencies such as BC Registries and Online Services and Land Title and Survey Authority (myLTSA)
  • Prioritizing and diarizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work to meet external and internal deadlines
  • Supporting the learning and mentoring of team members
  • Assisting teams members and taking on additional duties as required to support the overall team success

Qualifications include:

  • Graduate of a recognized legal assistant or equivalent
  • Five or more years of real estate development/subdivision and/or financial services experience considered a key asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong work ethic, with initiative and capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and often changing environment
  • Experience in BC Registries and Online Services, Land Title and Survey Authority (myLTSA)
  • Skilled in the areas of attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, dependability, and organization
