Are you an experienced paediatric or emergency nurse with a passion for delivering high-quality care? The Emergency Department at SickKids is currently recruiting outstanding nurses to join us as Emergency Nurses. In this vital role, you'll provide compassionate care and support to children and families during times of illness and injury.

Comprehensive Orientation & Education Program
To ensure your success in the Emergency Nurse role, we offer a structured and supportive 18-month orientation and education program, including:
- 8 weeks of onboarding, featuring 4 weeks of Emergency Department-specific classroom and small group learning, followed by 4 weeks of preceptorship in the ED.
- Emergency Response training at 6 months.
- Code/Trauma Nurse Leader training after 1 year.
- Team Lead and Preceptor development after 1 year.
- Triage Nurse training at 18 months.

- Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain clinical excellence through ongoing education and lifelong learning.

Here's What You'll Need
Essential Requirements
- BScN from an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (General Class) in good standing.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in a paediatric and/or emergency setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paediatric emergency experience is a strong asset.
- Previous experience precepting new nurses and nursing students is an asset.
- Experienced using EPIC an asset.
Additional Competencies of Emergency Department RNs:
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Commitment to family-centered care, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and support patients in crisis.
- Demonstrated resilience in complex and demanding situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic workflows.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Interest in mentoring and team development
- Willingness to participate in quality improvement initiatives and research-based practice.
- A growth mindset, with openness to feedback and continuous learning.
- Experience with paediatric assessment tools and/or emergency protocols.
- Comfort with technology, including electronic health records and patient monitoring systems.

- Permanent Full-Time (0.8 FTE) + 0.2 NRG
- As a member of the Nursing Resource Group (NRG), you'll provide scheduled availability to help manage fluctuations in patient acuity and volume within the Emergency Department.
