Join us in creating a positive change in veterinary medicine and making a difference in the lives of our patients and their devoted pet parents.This is a full-time position for a licensed and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician.Qualifications:Registered Veterinary Technician preferred: RVT, CVT, or LVTDegree or diploma in Veterinary Technology or a related fieldPrior experience is highly desirableStrong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and protocolsProficient in handling medical equipment, assisting in surgical procedures, administering medications, and treatmentsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsA compassionate nature with the ability to empathize and interact effectively with clients and their petsDetail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to work well within a team and contribute to a positive work cultureStrong organizational and time management skillsTechnically proficient and able to set-up notifications and communications with clients via the PIMSThrives in a collaborative environmentCommitment to continuous learning and staying updated on advancements in veterinary medicineResponsibilities and Technical Applications:Directly assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other proceduresInitiate appointments for doctor on duty by taking relevant and thorough patient historyAdminister vaccinations, medications, and treatments as directed by veterinariansPerform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures including blood work, urinalysis, and radiographsComfortable performing in-hospital lab work: cytology examination (ear and skin swabs, blood smears, etc.), running bloodwork and urinalysis (IDEXX ProCyte, Catalyst One, and SediVue)Monitor and record vital signs of animals, ensuring their comfort and well-beingMaintain accurate and organized medical records in our cloud-based practice management systemComfortable with doing intakes and discharges of surgical patientsEducate and provide guidance to pet owners regarding animal care, treatment plans, and preventive measuresPrepare and sterilize surgical equipment and maintain cleanliness in the veterinary clinicAssist in handling animals safely and compassionatelyMonitoring patients under sedation and anesthetic, providing post-operative care, and monitoring recovery of surgical patientsCompensation and Benefits:Competitive compensationAttractive partnership retention planMedical benefitsAnnual dues coverage, generous CE compensation and opportunities for professional development3 sets of company scrubs per yearEmployee discounts on veterinary products and food3 weeks of paid vacationPaid sick daysOpportunity to work in a supportive, encouraging work environmentState-of-the-art equipment and a commitment to the highest standards of careTo ApplyIf you are excited about the prospect of working with us, please reach out to us with your resume and a cover letter at ColeHarbour@aprilvets.com.
