About the role
Job Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the foot orthotic manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality standards. The supervisor will lead a team of production staff, manage workflow, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. The position requires strong process engineering knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor production staff to meet performance goals
- Conduct daily team huddles to align priorities, safety, and production targets
- Train and develop team members to foster growth and accountability
Production Oversight
- Manage daily production schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely delivery
- Monitor workflow and adjust resources to maintain optimal efficiency
- Resolve operational issues and implement corrective actions swiftly
Process Optimization
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve throughput
- Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain SOPs and ensure strict adherence across teams
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address defects and implement preventive measures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with safety protocols
Reporting & Metrics
- Track and report daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs including productivity, efficiency, and downtime
- Present improvement plans and performance summaries to senior management
- Lead initiatives to improve cost-effectiveness and reduce operational bottlenecks
Requirements and Qualifications:

5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in medical devices or orthotics

Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process engineering

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a hands-on management style

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Proficient in production planning tools and manufacturing software

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment
Working conditions:

Exposure to dust, noise, and chemical odors (e.g., plastic, adhesives)

Standing and walking on concrete floors for extended periods
-
Required PPE: CSA-approved footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, breathing mask, gloves
