Our Primrose location is seeking an experienced Aerodrome Supervisor to support our diverse operations. This is a rotational camp position with a four (4) days on and three (3) days off, Monday to Thursday schedule. Flights from Calgary or Edmonton and camp accommodations are provided.
Description:
The Aerodrome Supervisor supports all ground handling operations, passenger handling, and airfield maintenance. The Aerodrome Supervisor reports to the Director, Aerodromes and supervises the Airfield Operators/Ramp Agents.
Responsibilities:
- Champion a strong safety culture across the aerodrome operation by promoting proactive hazard identification, continuous improvement, and strict adherence to all EFC and CNRL safety policies and procedures.
- Schedule, direct, and organize day-to-day operations for Airfield Operators and Ramp Agents, including aircraft ground handling, passenger services, aircraft refuelling (if required), and airfield maintenance in accordance with EFC and CNRL operating and safety manuals.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, training, and direction to Airfield Operators and Ramp Agents, ensuring operations are planned effectively, tasks are properly delegated, and team members uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
- Work closely with all staff to facilitate aerodrome operations and perform passenger handling and ground handling activities while maintaining a constant focus on safety and operational excellence.
- Follow, guide, and enforce standard operating procedures per EFC operating manuals; provide excellent leadership and set the highest standard of performance and safety awareness.
- Ensure all aspects of the airfield are properly maintained in all weather conditions and that all equipment and facilities remain in safe and serviceable condition.
- When required, assist the team with all operational duties, including ground handling, refuelling, aircraft de/anti-icing, airfield maintenance, passenger services, and wildlife control officer duties, while modelling safe work practices.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service to all stakeholders.
- Communicate with aircraft as required.
- Ensure all contract requirements are met, including reporting, meetings, and auditing.
- Provide the Director, Aerodromes with relevant information regarding succession planning, coaching, and performance management of aerodrome staff.
- Assist in implementing new procedures, ensuring accurate training record keeping, and reinforcing a culture of safety and accountability.
- Ensure full compliance with all legislative, industry, and customer standards, including Transport Canada, Canada Labour Code, Occupational Health and Safety, and CNRL’s safety and site regulations.
- Support general activities related to aerodrome operations and perform work at other EFC Aerodrome locations as required.
- Provide services after hours on an on-call/as-needed basis.
- Comply with and actively participate in EFC’s Health, Safety & Environment and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area, exhibiting pride in performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in aviation or a business-related field is preferred.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in the aviation/airport industry, including aerodrome operations experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory/leadership experience is preferred.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean Driver’s Abstract. No restrictions permitted.
- Able to meet all required pre-employment and site access screening including, but not limited to, Common Safety Orientation (CSO) course, Site Contractor Orientations and Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol test.
- EFC and CNRL required theoretical and practical training (e.g. WHMIS, AVOP, etc.)
- EFC on the job training for aerodrome operations policies, procedures and practices.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office, Excel and Word.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Highly motivated and able to work well independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to multi-task and establish priorities in a dynamic and changing environment.
- A strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Able to work in inclement weather conditions, overtime and extended shifts.
- Able to lift or move up to 60 lbs.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal or no supervision.
