JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director/Curator, Dunlop Art Gallery, the Coordinator, Collections and Digital Engagement, is responsible for the registration of RPL’s art collections and assists with temporary exhibitions, programming and branch displays. The Coordinator, Collections and Digital Engagement, co-ordinates some aspects of selected moving image presentations, digital projects and media art works, and assists with the delivery of digital engagement and social media activities. The Coordinator, Collections and Digital Engagement is responsible for creating and maintaining all digital content related to the Gallery’s collections and exhibitions working in collaboration with the Curator and Head of Engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In cooperation with Dunlop Art Gallery Curators, develops, delivers and evaluates programs and special events offered by Dunlop and provides input and support for the development and delivery of Dunlop programs as they relate to digital and media offerings.

  2. Develop and deliver messaging about Dunlop programs and services through social media.

  3. Registration of the RPL permanent art collection and art rental service, and day-to-day responsibility for the management and record-keeping of these collections. Oversees collections database for the RPL permanent art collection and art rental service, holding day-to-day responsibility for the digital record-keeping of these collections, in collaboration with the Preparator.

  4. Assess the condition of incoming and outgoing art works and prepare condition reports for RPL permanent artwork and art rental works as assigned. Photo-document damaged works of art as soon as damage is discovered.

  5. Assists the Preparator with the transportation of work to RPL branches and drives the RPL van as required. Maintains knowledge of current best practices, especially fine arts packing and shipping methods. Performs other associated registration activities as needed, such as packing, unpacking, transit arrangements, condition reporting, installation, de-installation, data entry, etc. Provide support for exhibitions installation activities in collaboration with the Preparator.

  6. Co-ordinate temporary loan agreements and insurance for exhibitions and contributes to exhibition planning and production as assigned. With the Preparator, monitors compliance with terms of agreement in exhibition contracts and loan agreements.

  7. Co-ordinate all aspects of Dunlop touring exhibitions, under the supervision of the Director/Curator and the internal or contracted exhibition curator.

  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, Film Studies, Creative Technologies, or Communications studies from an accredited university.

  2. Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high quality customer service.

  3. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad public about art, artists, and digital media.

  4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, staff and external agencies and to work as a member of a team.

  5. Typing/keyboard proficiency including knowledge of office software (Microsoft Office). Demonstrated experience of office practices with the ability to provide highly organized record keeping of text and images.

  6. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with a minimum of direct supervision.
