The Opportunity

The IT Services Branch is seeking highly motivated, innovative, and customer focused service professionals for the position of Quality Assurance Analyst. The Quality Assurance Analyst will work as part of a team responsible for testing a variety of internal and third-party solutions essential to supporting the Ministry of Social Service. This role will participate in the requirements analysis process to ensure validation, verification, creation and execution of comprehensive system testing based on system requirements and user journeys. Responsible for maintaining a repository of test artifacts to enable demonstration of system and component compliance and create clear and meaningful defect/incident reports while assisting the team in defect resolution. Working closely with Ministry stakeholders, vendors, business analysts, and project teams, the position will focus on implementing quality assurance processes in supporting the operational readiness and functionality of our Ministry software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and establish Ministry software solution testing framework and processes.
  • Execute and analyze results of functional, non-functional and maintenance via manual and automated software solution testing.
  • Responsible to ensure the quality and integrity of testing and validating software solutions.
  • Liaison and engage with Operations business units, project team and technical developers to define, design, develop effective test strategies and scenarios.
  • Define and fabricate data scenarios for Ministry testing suites.
  • Perform analysis, research and problem solving to resolve issues, following established processes to ultimately plan and implement fixes.
  • Use critical thinking with reported issues, errors or trends to provide options and recommendations to resolve issues or proactively prevent.
  • Facilitate requirements validation with multiple stakeholders’, technical partners, or business leads often with varying outcomes to be achieved.
  • Act as the liaison between the business and technical service provider(s) to ensure production systems are validated efficiently and effectively.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this position, you will have proven experience in developing and performing solution/system testing. Your customer service focused with an IT focused approach to problem solving, critical thinking and analysis combined with exceptional communication skills. You will also be familiar with IT quality assurance and project principles with the ability to understand basic technical issues on a variety of software platforms. Your ability to develop and maintain cohesive and respectful working relationships with stakeholders of all levels is essential. Having above average ability to communicate and translate business language into technical language is required to build testing plans and implementation of system enhancements.

Typically, the knowledge and skills for this position are acquired through a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related discipline along with several years experience working in a customer service sector. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of Social Services programs, processes and procedures would be an asset.
