We are seeking a Marketing and Social Media Specialist to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.

Are you a creative storyteller with a strategic mindset? As our Marketing and Social Media Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of crafting and delivering impactful marketing and communications that showcase the value of BC Pension Corporation and the pension plans we serve.

You’ll develop marketing strategies for multi-channel campaigns and create engaging content to enhance our social media presence. As a key member of our marketing and communications team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we connect with our audiences—both internally and externally. Hybrid Work Model

This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month.

Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.

Responsibilities

Drive Our Digital Presence: Help shape and execute our digital marketing and social media strategy, aligning content with our corporate goals and values.

Create Engaging Content: Craft and publish compelling posts for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube that inform, inspire, and spark positive conversation.

Champion Our Talent Brand: Collaborate on our employee value proposition and develop messaging that showcases what makes us a great place to work.

Boost Internal Engagement: Find innovative ways to promote key initiatives and events to employees, building a stronger internal culture.

Collaborate on Creative Campaigns: Work closely with our in-house creative team and external partners to ensure brand consistency and a unified voice across all channels.

Manage Campaigns from Start to Finish: Recommend budgets and timelines, monitor progress, and adjust as needed to keep projects on track and impactful.

Measure What Matters: Track campaign performance, analyze results, and make data-driven decisions to optimize outcomes.

Build Strong Relationships: Foster connections with leadership, colleagues, and stakeholders to support communication goals.

Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep up with the latest digital trends and tools, and bring fresh ideas to enhance our marketing efforts.

Tell Stories That Stick: Plan, write, and produce content—including photos, videos, and stories for social media and email campaigns.

Host Live Social Events: Lead interactive sessions like “Ask Me Anything” events to engage audiences in real time.

Foster a Positive Online Community: Monitor and respond to social media comments in a way that reflects our inclusive and respectful values.

Qualifications

Must have

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Three years of related experience in a corporate work environment that includes:
    • Experience leading communication or marketing projects or initiatives, including client consultation, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating success
    • Experience creating a variety of marketing and communication materials including plans, campaigns, reports, correspondence, and presentations
    • Experience producing content across web, social media, and other digital channels
    • Experience with M365 and social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
    • Experience with web and social media analytics and reporting
    • Experience with Facebook Business, Google Analytics 4, Google AdWords and LinkedIn Marketing
    • Experience managing an online community, including comment moderation and tactics to promote positive engagement with a brand

Nice to have:

    • HTML/CSS skills to integrate social media content into websites
    • Content management systems such as Cascade and WordPress

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general communications principles, concepts and methodologies including issues management, social media, media relations and media production
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to write clearly for a variety of audiences and channels
  • Demonstrated social media management fluency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, leadership, and contractors
  • Ability to consult with clients to assess needs, gather requirements, provide options and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, establish priorities, and complete deliverables with accuracy and on time
  • Able to work independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
