We are currently recruiting for a 1st year Carpenter Apprentice local to the Whitehorse area, regular 40 hours per week (OT may be required). Reporting to Site Superintendent, the successful candidate will be a team player, exemplify our Core Values, and have a strong commitment to site safety.

NOTE: This position is available to applicants legally entitled to work in Canada. Applicants not authorized to work in Canada will not be considered for the position.

Position Type: NOC 72310

  • Entry-level, permanent, full-time

Education:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or higher
  • Registered Apprentice

Responsibilities include the following tasks:

  • Load/unload construction materials and move materials to specific work areas
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at a construction site
  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and grout
  • Spotter duties - signal equipment operators and guide them in moving equipment on site
  • Maintain a clean work site
  • Other carpentry tasks as supervised by a Journeyperson Carpenter
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to site housekeeping practices
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 6 months to 1 year experience on a construction site in a similar role
  • Experience in carpentry
  • Familiarity with hand tools
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Commercial experience an asset
  • On-the-job training and mentorship provided
  • Valid certifications or willingness to obtain certifications in WHMIS 2015, Electrical Safety and Level 1 First Aid
