About the role

Adecco is currently hiring a Category Management Analyst to join a Top Tier global consumer goods (CPG/FMCG) company and support a Trade Marketing team based in Toronto. This role plays a critical part in driving category growth by transforming data into actionable insights that support commercial decision-making and enhance marketplace execution. Supporting both the Category Management and Channel Development teams, and partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Sales and Marketing, the successful candidate will help optimize trade marketing strategies through data analysis, performance tracking, category storytelling, and market intelligence. The role also supports the Sales team through the development and maintenance of key selling tools and resources used to support customer engagement, innovation launches, and core business growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain broad business exposure while developing expertise in Category Management and Channel Development within a leading FMCG environment.

Pay Rate: $37/hr

Responsibilities

Category and Market Insights

  • Support the Trade Marketing team (Category Management and Channel Development) through recurring and ad hoc reporting across a portfolio of leading brands.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources (e.g., NielsenIQ, Numerator, retailer POS) to uncover actionable insights, identify growth opportunities, and develop recommendations that enhance category performance and support business growth.
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness to support category and pricing recommendations.

Opportunity Identification & Category Development

  • Support the identification and development of category growth opportunities across key category fundamentals, including Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing (DSMP).
  • Assist Category Managers in quantifying whitespace opportunities and identifying actions to improve category performance.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Design, develop, automate, and maintain reports, dashboards, scorecards, and performance tracking tools.
  • Analyze business results across channels to evaluate performance and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Continuously improve reporting processes, analytical tools, and data management practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Presentation & Stakeholder Support

  • Partner with Category and Channel Development Managers to develop impactful presentations, category reviews, and business updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development of customer-facing category selling stories rooted in market insights and business performance metrics.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support category initiatives and business objectives.

Sales Toolkit Support

  • Develop and maintain sales support materials, including innovation and core business sell sheets.
  • Coordinate product samples and support materials to support customer presentations and selling activities.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of sales resources to ensure teams have access to up-to-date category, product, and innovation information.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Category Management, Trade Marketing, Sales Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related analytical field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and business recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with NielsenIQ, Numerator, retailer POS data, or other syndicated data sources is considered an asset.
  • Experience in business performance analysis and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
