Number of Openings: 1 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: The Expanded Mining Technical Lead is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of detailed work packages using existing Caterpillar resourses, technical documentation, engineering standards, and established protocols. Success in this role requires the integration of world-class Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) planning and rigorous quality control processes, while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and completeness in all job packages. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Finning/OEM Exchange planners, Finning PSSR Sales teams, and OCS groups to provide technical support to the OEM planning team in the development of monthly rebuild plans. This role will also partner closely with EMP production technicians, production leadership, OEM Parts and Salvage teams to support the execution of Expanded Mining Program (EMP) Exchange and Repair & Return component rebuilds. In addition, the Expanded Mining Technical Lead will support OEM Technical Services by facilitating failure analysis investigations, preparing technical reports, and developing component condition assessment reports. The position plays a key role in driving operational excellence, improving rebuild quality, and ensuring consistent execution of component rebuild and repair programs. Job Description: Prepare job package to include: labor, materials and services required to complete the job Uses quality feedback from technicians to optimize job packs Moves jobs to -active- backlog and downloads job when material availability has been confirmed Identify task activities necessary to execute component rebuilds. Identify/solicit safety information and requirements to perform job tasks Support from a technical aspect coordinating activities between procurement, parts purchasing, warehouse operations, and business support units Report status of materials inventory and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as scheduled and making appropriate recommendations Support and review vendor quotes and submit work authorizations, additionally work with budget owners to ensure budget requirements are met Provide technical and administrative support for mechanical rebuild process Manage technical communications between rebuild facility and manufacturer (Caterpillar) Compile detailed Failure Analysis and Condition reports for mechanical failures and rebuilds Compile detailed condition reports detailing component wear and damage caused during service in pictures and text Interpret engineering drawings to make technical decisions Compile failure reports & repair quotes for customers Become familiar with the design, assembly and function of mining equipment and sub-components Develop & improve component work scopes and bills of material Qualifications: A minimum of a C.E.T or Engineering qualifications is required Project Leadership / Management training would be considered an asset Experience in and understanding of the flow of repair and salvage work in various industries Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly Interactive people and communication skills Excellent verbal / written communication skills Ability to read and understand Engineered drawings. Ability to understand specifications as written. A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish Experience in work planning is an asset.
