About the role
The Testing and Applications Engineer will join Morgan Solar’s Validation and Applications Team, playing a critical role in bridging the gap between Development, Applications, and customer-facing support. This role requires rapid synthesis and identification of potential issues, on-the-fly problem solving, interteam coordination and a continuous drive towards project success. You will be responsible for evaluating product reliability and performance, informing design decisions, and supporting the application of MSI technologies in complex real-world environments.
Qualifications
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Science, or Physics). Minimum 3 years of professional experience in R&D engineering, specifically with exposure to Solar, DC systems and prototype development. NABSEP Associate accreditation a benefit.
Qualifications
Product Development lifecycles and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Reliability Engineering Principles including Design & Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (D/PFMEA). Design of Experiments (DOEs) and statistical analysis. Competency with hand and shop tools for prototyping in metal, wood and 3d printing Expertise with electrical tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering, SMT reworks). Data analysis and systems management using Python and SQL. Strong interpersonal, communication & technical writing skills, ideally with a proven track record of working across multi-disciplinary teams (Hardware, Software, Support). Problem Solving using a methodical approach to troubleshooting system-level complexities in both laboratory and field environments. Strong foundational knowledge of DC systems, including solar PV, energy storage, low/high voltage DC circuits, and standard electrical test equipment.
Proficiency with PCB design and testing tools such as Altium, and SPICE
Desirable Skills, Experience and Familiarity with
Installation and function of photovoltaic (PV) technologies. Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Raspberry Pi (RPi), ARM, Linux platforms. Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN bus)
