##Position Description
The Family Centre and Children's Library requires an energetic and detail orientsLibrary Technicianto maintain and provide reference service in the Children's Library Collection while supporting technology and programming initiatives.
Here's What You'll Get to Do
- Receive, analyze, process, store, and preserve items in any format received into the collection
- Provide customer service to patients, families, staff and outside stakeholders
- Purchase storage and conservation media for the collection
- Staff the main Circulation Desk of the Children's Library for a minimum of 12 hours per week
- Use our automated circulation system (Insignia) for loans, renewals, reserves, and register new users
- Assist patrons in locating books and other materials, answer telephone inquiries, provide orientation to computer workstations
- Support programming and other library duties as required including live broadcast of story time on hospital CCTV - set up and operate equipment as needed, visiting inpatient units with book carts
- Support with cataloguing, MARC record maintenance, and digitization projects
- Assist with preparation of statistical and informational updates and reports for the hospital and SIckKids Foundation
- Provide supervision and direction to students and volunteers
- Promote literacy and resource use through displays, presentations, and guidance as directed by the Children's Librarian
- Ensure compliance with copyright and privacy regulations as well as Hospital specific policies
Here's What You'll Need
- Post secondary education and a Library and Information Technician Diploma (mandatory; consideration for candidates nearing completion)
- Minimum 1 year of library related experience
- Enthusiasm and exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask, take initiative, and work independently in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge or print health science bibliographic resources and their use
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using online catalogue modules and integrated library systems
- Knowledge of cataloguing practices and MARC (Machine-Readable-Cataloguing) standards
- Familiarity with AV equipment and emerging technologies
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Wednesdays 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Thursdays 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
