Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable team and full cycle A/P activities, implementing and improving internal controls, and continuous improvement***.***

The core parts of your role will be to:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable team and coordinates full cycle A/P activities for multiple entities to achieve operational efficiency while adhering to the strategy.

  • Oversee daily transaction processing to ensure timeliness and accuracy of payments.

  • Ensure effectiveness of internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain financial security. This includes overseeing reconciliations, and other control processes, and ensuring that A/P policies and procedures are developed and documented.

  • Apply principles and practices to establish a strategic approach to improving operations and productivity. This includes managing processes to support the organization’s strategic direction and communicating, facilitating and supporting necessary changes for continuous improvement.

  • Assist with recruiting, selecting and training individuals, communicating strategies and objectives, and providing employees with the necessary resources to perform individual job responsibilities efficiently.

  • Lead performance management by setting goals, communicating expectations, providing coaching, training, support and feedback to help employees meet objectives.

  • Promote a collaborative environment while adhering to policies and operating procedures. Resolves operational problems and consults and collaborates with management and other departments, as required.

  • Oversight of the corporate credit card program.

  • Provide audit and project support, as required.

  • Performs other duties within competence, as assigned.

Qualifications

Let’s Talk About You:

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounts payable.
  • 3 years’ experience with general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable or similar accounting experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a managerial, supervisory or senior administrator role is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of intercompany arrangements.
  • Experience with monthly and annual accounts payable reconciliations as they relate to financial statement processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Knowledge of enterprise accounting software (G/L, A/P, A/R modules) such as Microsoft D365 would be an asset.
  • The demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze information.
  • Superior time management, project management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
