Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Finance & Corporate Services plays a critical role in the administration of the District of Lillooet. They perform the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in developing, implementing, and overseeing the financial strategy, as well as the role of Corporate Officer (CO) in overseeing corporate and legislative matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with demonstrated leadership experience in local government finance who is interested in exerting their influence beyond the financial plan, annual financial statements and municipal report. The Director advises the CAO, Council, and staff on best practices, risk management, asset management, and innovative approaches to long term planning and sustainable service delivery. They provide leadership in governance, legal matters, legislative & regulatory services, communications, information systems, and aspects of human resources and land administration. As a core member of the senior leadership team, the Director is an advisor to all service areas, evaluating and assisting in every aspect of administration. WHAT YOU BRING

  • Thorough knowledge of municipal finance and accounting principles, practices, procedures and systems, including budgeting best practices and auditing requirements.

  • 10 years of related experience with at least 5 years in a public-sector environment, preferably in a municipal setting.

  • Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business, public administration or related field, or combination of equivalent training and experience.
