About the role

Manulife is recruiting an AVP, Technology Transformation to oversee a global initiative within the Global Technology Strategy organization! This role is essential for aligning our global technology talent strategy with the company's business objectives, improving developer experience, and growing capabilities in platforms, cloud, data, security, and artificial intelligence.

The successful candidate will excel in a dynamic, cross-regional environment where innovation and measurable impact are priorities! Improve developer engagement globally to enhance workforce evolution and education, aiding Manulife's digital leadership goals.

Position Responsibilities As AVP, Engineering Transformation, you will:

  • Lead the evolution of the IT Career Framework, ensuring it reflects emerging technology workforce trends and skills and supports meaningful career progression across all regions and sub-organizations.
  • Drive Technology workforce transformation by bringing to bear the technical skills development, upskilling, and adaptability of the workforce with Manulife University.
  • Developing strong partnerships with our strategic partners and vendors helps keep our workforce current with the latest technical knowledge in high demand and emerging fields within Technology.
  • Align trainings and learning events with ongoing work across platforms, cloud, data, security, and AI, ensuring consistency with enterprise strategy.
  • Champion Developer Experience by organizing global tech events and productivity-focused programs. Improve our delivery processes to support our developers by employing tools like JIRA, GitHub, and others for Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Establish and maintain strong multi-functional relationships, influencing without direct authority to drive adoption and results across global teams.
  • Advocate for Engineering Transformation in leadership forums, business planning sessions, and external engagements such as hackathons, tech talks, and recruitment campaigns.
  • Continuously evolve the operating model for Manulife University and engineering enablement to scale globally and deliver measurable impact.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and transformation

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in technology strategy, engineering enablement, and talent transformation with a global scope and mandate.
  • Solid understanding of modern technology domains encompassing platforms, cloud, data, security, and AI.
  • Good understanding and relevant experience in improving software development life cycles.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling abilities, capable of persuading and aligning collaborators across different regions and hierarchies.
  • Experience in designing and executing L&D programs, preferably in partnership with internal universities or academies.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change without direct authority, building coalitions, and inspiring change in complex environments and global teams.
  • Passion for developer experience, community building, and inclusive tech culture.

Working Arrangement Hybrid

Salary range is expected to be between $126,600.00 CAD - $235,300.00 CAD
