MANAGER - BUSINESS FINANCE PLANNING & ANALYSIS - TIFF : THE MARKET
The Manager - Business Finance Planning & Analysis is the dedicated financial partner to the Market leadership team, providing financial stewardship including strategic financial planning, analysis, and insights to enable sound decision-making and long-term sustainability of the Market. This role is focused on business-facing finance, budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and revenue/cost strategy. Working in close coordination with the group finance team, which will be accountable for audit, AR/AP, compliance, and standard reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Partner with Market Executive Leadership to plan, strategize, and manage the Market’s annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with TIFF’s overall financial objectives.
- Manage the full Market budget, inclusive of shared expense categories (venues and staffing sightlines).
- Partner with Government Relations to translate funding commitments into planning, reporting, and compliance.
- Build or refine the existing tools and templates for Market leadership and teams to track revenue and expenses seamlessly, ensuring clarity on financial status at all times.
- Build or refine forecasting tools that reflect scenario planning for revenue, sales, sponsorships, and government funding for The Market.
- Work closely with Finance to align on structure and data flow, maintaining both integration and flexibility in approach.
- Deliver detailed financial forecasts to guide resource allocation and long-term decision-making.
- Anticipate and escalate risks and opportunities through ongoing forecasting, scenario analysis, and market intelligence, providing actionable recommendations.
- Support the Market Leadership in setting financial priorities, Modeling, ROI analysis identifying funding gaps, and recommending strategies and decision frameworks for new initiatives and partnerships to achieve revenue and cost targets.
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering
- Act as the Market’s finance partner, embedding financial strategy into all aspects of planning, delivery, and growth.
- Work closely with Government Relations to translate funding commitments into sound financial planning, reporting, and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver clear, actionable financial updates to leadership, board members, funders, and external partners, as needed and in close collaboration with the group finance team.
- Ensure Market financial planning aligns with organizational financial frameworks.
Financial Analysis & Business Insights
- Prepare and present tailored financial reports for Market Executive Leadership, the CFO, and relevant committees, highlighting performance trends and opportunities.
- Conduct analysis of key revenue streams (e.g., exhibition sales, partnerships, sponsorships, delegate fees) to identify areas for growth, providing variance analysis and corrective recommendations.
- Monitor expense management across all Market departments (Programming, Ops, Admin) ensuring efficiency and adherence to approved budgets.
- Support HR and leadership with financial review of headcount requests, compensation planning, and workforce cost analysis.
Government Reporting & External Funding
- Develop & Manage Market-related multi- year budgets and reports to support government and funder requirements, in close partnership with finance team
- Support the Senior Director - Ops, Admin & Enablement - Market in leading the financial relationship with key funders, ensuring alignment with Finance, Government Relations, and the CFO.
- Oversee and support financial reporting for grants and public funding for TIFF- The Market, including reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Support the Finance team in the preparation and completion of audits by providing Market-related information and documentation as required.
Market Financial Systems and Administration
- Administer Netsuite functions for Market finance activities.
- Ensure timely processing and approval of Market-related purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursements in compliance with organizational policies.
- Maintain a strong audit trail across Market transactions.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
- Job Grade Salary Range/Annually or Rate of pay : $65,000 - $101,000

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance is an asset.
- Sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, with preferred 3–5 years in event-based, entertainment, or Market-related financial management.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, financial, Business analysis, and operational reporting.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization and collaborating with senior executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., MS-Excel skills, MS-Word, and Google Suite).
- Experience with Netsuite (financial system) an asset.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with superior attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all financial matters
