Communications Coordinator
About the role
Are you a creative communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment? The City of Edmonton is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our LRT Expansion and Renewal team.
In this role, you will be a key player in bringing marketing and communications strategies to life, helping us connect with the community through meaningful storytelling and integrated campaigns. You will work alongside a collaborative team of experts to support projects that shape our city's infrastructure and services. What will you do?
- Assist with the implementation of integrated marketing communications elements and plans, including coordinating messaging for media and supporting senior staff with campaigns, events and publications
- Draft and develop a variety of written content, such as news releases, web and digital content, newsletters and key messages
- Coordinate and implement communications and public outreach events, and liaise with third-party vendors and partners
- Provide support to external consultants and internal web and social media teams by developing social media posts and coordinating content for digital platforms
- Gather technical information from clients and translate it into simple and effective marketing and communications products
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a two-year college, accredited post-secondary institute, or technical institute program with coursework related to marketing, journalism, communications, or public relations
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a public relations, public affairs, or public information position
Assets:
- Experience working with digital engagement tools and platforms
- Familiarity with coordinating production requests involving graphic designers and printers
- Previous experience supporting large-scale public events or community initiatives
Skills required for success:
- Proven experience in delivering high-quality marketing communications materials and advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft succinct and meaningful content
- Working knowledge of communications, marketing, advertising, social media, and design coordination
- Excellent relationship-building skills to work effectively with staff at all levels and external collaborator groups
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to translate complex, technical information into clear marketing communications products

Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
- This role works primarily in an indoor setting
- This position is primarily sedentary, involving sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity in an office setting
- The role requires high visual acuity for digital work and the ability to manage mental pressures such as tight deadlines and client expectations
- This is a public-facing role and requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs, expectations and emotional states

Salary Range : $36.128 - $45.418 (Hourly); $75,435.260 - $94,832.780 (Annually)
