The City of Orillia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Recreation Coordinator- Sport and Seniors.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation Programs, the Recreation Coordinator – Sport and Seniors, work as part of a collaborative team responsible for the delivery of sport development and seniors’ recreation within the City of Orillia. This position plans, develops, implements, and evaluates sport programs, leagues, and tournaments while also overseeing the Orillia Active Living Centre and other senior-focused recreation activities, partnerships and initiatives. The Recreation Coordinator plays a key role in fostering participation across all ages, enhancing the quality of recreation experiences, and supporting inclusive, accessible, and community-driven programming.
Candidates must possess a two or three-year Post-Secondary Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services, Sport Management, or a related field. A Degree in Recreation Administration or a related discipline will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of progressive experience in recreation, sport management, or community programming, preferably within a municipal environment, along with proven experience supervising part-time and casual staff in a unionized setting. Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using ActiveNet recreation software (asset). Experience in budget oversight, grant writing, and financial reporting is considered a strong asset.
The salary for this position is $75,641 to $88,489 based on a 35-hour work week.

- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate part-time staff and volunteers for sport and seniors' programs.
- Provide ongoing leadership, mentorship, and support to ensure a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Liaise with user groups, schools, community sport organizations, and other agencies to strengthen sport delivery and encourage collaboration.
- Develop and maintain partnerships and sponsorships with local organizations to advance seniors programming within the Orillia Active Living Centre.

- Oversee and manage the sport and senior recreation budget, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking, and reporting of revenues and expenditures.
- Identify and pursue grant and sponsorship opportunities to support and expand programming.
- Lead grant writing, budget submissions, and post-project reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Monitor program revenues and expenses to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with corporate objectives.
