Company Description Indigenous Energy Monitor (IEM) is Canada’s first market intelligence platform focused on Indigenous participation in the energy and resource sectors. IEM provides trusted data, research, and advisory services to investors, industry, government, and Indigenous organizations to support informed decision-making. Role Description This part-time remote Researcher role supports IEM’s data, research, and advisory activities related to Indigenous involvement in energy and resource projects. The Researcher will conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from publicly available sources, proprietary databases, and stakeholder submissions. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing policy and regulatory documents, tracking market developments, preparing concise research briefs, and contributing to reports and presentations for clients and partners. The Researcher will collaborate with team members to verify information, ensure data quality, and maintain up-to-date records in internal systems. This role may also involve communicating findings in accessible formats and supporting special research projects as needed.
Qualifications Strong research and analytical skills, including experience with data collection, validation, and synthesis from multiple sources. Ability to interpret policy, regulatory, and market information related to energy, natural resources, or economic development. Proficiency in written communication, including drafting research briefs, summaries, and clear data-driven narratives. Comfort working with spreadsheets, databases, and basic data visualization tools to organize and present information. Familiarity with Indigenous governance, rights, and economic participation in Canada, or a strong interest in learning in this area. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Collaborative mindset, with the ability to receive and incorporate feedback and work respectfully with diverse stakeholders. Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Indigenous studies, public policy, economics, geography, environmental studies, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
