Instrumentation and Control Technician
About the role
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Instrumentation and Control Technician is responsible for supporting the air separation plant by maintaining all plant instrumentation and electrical equipment (i.e. control devices, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), process computers, process analyzers, transmitters, pneumatic control devices and electrical equipment, valves).
Key Responsibilities
- Support and comply with all health, safety and environmental procedures as indicated by the local and corporate HSE department.
- Calibration and testing of all safety critical systems, equipment protection and quality control components.
- Troubleshooting and replacement of faulty or failed instrumentation, including actuators, controllers, solenoids, transmitters, switches, sensors and analyzers.
- Maintenance of the plant's PLCs and Distributed Control System (DCS) with respect to troubleshooting, board replacement and logic modifications.
- Responsible for the Instrumentation Preventive Maintenance Work Order System and achieving 100% compliance.
- Order spare parts and components and keep critical spare parts in stock for the plant.
- Maintenance of control system databases.
- Planning and execution of plant shutdowns.
- Work closely with contractors and monitor quality of work.
- Respond to evening and weekend service calls to ensure continuity of plant operations.

Qualifications Required
- AEC or DEP in industrial automation.
- DEC in Instrumentation and Controls.
Experience
- 4 to 6 years experience in an industrial process environment required.
- Experience in operation and maintenance of process, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
- Previous plant and/or industrial gas experience is a plus.
- Experience in industrial gases is an asset.
- 4 to 6 years experience in an industrial plant environment.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and process schematics.
- Knowledge and experience of process analyzer maintenance and calibration.
- Reliable individual who can work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to recognize, understand, analyze and solve technical problems.
- Has a systematic approach to troubleshooting in process control, instrumentation and electrical control.
- Working knowledge and experience of high/medium voltage electrical switchgear.
- Familiar with the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams).
- Previous experience with Servomex, Delta-F, Gow Mac, Teledyne and/or Drager process analyzers.
- Experience with DCS Emerson Delta-V and/or Foxboro
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
